Manuscript Assessment

Sometimes when we’ve spent months absorbed in our creative work, we need a fresh pair of eyes, someone to give us an objective opinion, as well as guidance and support.
A manuscript assessment offers just that, and will provide writers with an honest, detailed, and constructive response to their work.
If you’ve got a full manuscript, congratulations! What an amazing achievement. That gives you the choice of going in for a complete assessment, however, if you’re at an earlier drafting stage in the writing process and want help with direction, go ahead and submit an extract.
Either way, an assessment is the best starting point before proceeding with developmental editing or proofreading.

What do you get?

I'll carefully read and review your manuscript, outlining what you’re doing well, and what’s working less well and why. This will include structural and developmental advice about basic narrative elements, such as plot, style, pacing, and character. I'll then suggest practical guidelines for self-editing that will help you to make the changes needed to get your book to a publishable standard.

You’ll get a feedback package which includes the following:
-
A written editorial report which focuses on key areas for development
-
A lightly annotated draft of your manuscript
-
A one-hour follow-up session: Post-feedback support addressing what you're most in need of. This might include help with incorporating edits in order to improve and develop your writing, generating ideas, or offering practical advice for next steps.
